Flying with Malaysian Airlines

Malaysian Airlines has a spotless reputation for excellent service and high quality in-flight amenities. These factors are what led to it being named the Leading Airline in Asia not just once, but four times since 2010.

The airline serves 60 countries with its 75 aircraft and is constantly working towards adding more to its roster. Despite recent headlines concerning the mysterious loss of Malaysia aircraft, the airline has one of the world's best safety records and works tirelessly towards improving the quality of its services.

Economy Class

Malaysian Airlines offers slim-line seats in its Economy class cabins, which are outfitted in comfortable cool-toned canvas. The airline's long-haul flights all benefit from extra legroom and four- or six-way adjustable headrests. Additionally, the seats offer lumbar support and footrests.

Economy Class passengers can enjoy a variety of on-demand entertainment through seat-mounted video screens. The in-flight entertainment system includes the latest movies and TV shows, as well as a large selection of international music, interactive games, and up-to-the-minute travel news. Each seat comes with its own USB and power supply ports so that passengers may enjoy their own personal electronics mid-flight.

Malaysian Airlines' in-flight menu is entirely halal – meaning it is compliant with Islamic law. For non-Muslim passengers, this is a non-issue – hot meal choices typically consist of lamb, beef, or chicken. While alcohol is forbidden according to the same laws, Malaysia Airlines is happy to serve passengers a variety of alcoholic beverages.

Business Class

Business Class passengers get to enjoy special privileges from the moment they arrive at the airport check-in counter. From increased baggage allowances to priority seating, Business Class passengers on Malaysian Airlines flights get to have a smoother, more comfortable trip to any of the airline's most popular destinations.

The Business Class cabin features two seats per row instead of the usual three. This lets each seat take up more space and offer a wider, more comfortable experience for each passenger. As an added bonus, no Business Class passenger has to worry about being stuck in the center seat.

These seats offer ample storage for the additional baggage that Business Class passengers can carry on-board with them. They also offer additional powered control options for reclining, including a lie-flat position ideal for sleeping through long-haul flights.

In terms of entertainment, Business Class passengers enjoy the same video-on-demand service that the rest of the airplane enjoys, but on a higher quality display. Additionally, each seat comes with USB and laptop power outlets.

Malaysian Airlines staff prepares Business Class meals with great care and plates each portion individually. You can order from a wide selection of delicious starters, main courses, and desserts. Instead of the usual airline presentation, you get to eat on restaurant-style plates with quality silverware.

First Class

Malaysian Airlines' First Class seating is only available on its Airbus A-380 flights, which usually travel from Kuala Lumpur to London, Hong Kong, and Paris. With a First Class ticket, you can bring along up to 50 kilograms of checked-in baggage and use dedicated check-in facilities which include special First Class lounge amenities.

Once you get on the airplane, you will be treated to an extra-wide armchair with its own ottoman, and air-to-ground satellite telephone and large flat-screen display TV. The seat transforms into a lie-flat bed with its own duvet and pillow, letting you get a full night's rest while traveling the sky.

Entertainment options for first class include the latest film releases and TV shows, all shown in high definition. The attached audio system provides an immersive surround sound experience.

The First Class menu includes 25 meal options including both Malaysian traditional dishes and favorites of Western cuisine. Malaysian Airlines offers a Chef-on-Call option through which First Class passengers can pre-order desired meals and receive them whenever they wish. This option only requires passengers call at least 24 hours ahead.

Elite Malaysian Airlines passengers can gain entrance to selective airport lounges in all Malaysian airports.
