Book your own unforgettable travel experiences to New York

New York City is one of those rare destinations that truly has something for everyone. Whether you want to go to the theater, enjoy an afternoon of shopping, spend a day on the beach, or go for a run in Central Park, you’ll find fun and interesting things to do in New York City any time of the year.

New York: The City that Never Sleeps

New York City is made up of five boroughs: Manhattan, Staten Island, Brooklyn, Queens, and the Bronx. They’re linked by numerous bridges and tunnels and each has its own personality.

Manhattan is home to most of the things you probably think of when you think of New York City: Central Park, the Empire State Building, Broadway, and Rockefeller Center, just to name a few. It’s also the place to go for hundreds of world class restaurants and museums.

Manhattan itself is divided into several distinct neighborhoods, and you’re sure to find one that suits you. Greenwich Village for a taste of Bohemia, Little Italy for some delectable eats, Washington Heights for the views, plus Chelsea and the Upper and Lower East Sides.

Cross the Brooklyn Bridge and see why Brooklyn has become one of the most popular neighborhoods around. From unique art galleries to hipster restaurants to beautiful brownstones, Brooklyn provides and eclectic mix of nostalgia and modern-day cool.

Staten Island is the place to go for some fresh air and open spaces you might not find in other parts of the city. Hop in the Staten Island Ferry and spend the day hiking among the beautiful fall foliage, go to the Staten Island Zoo, or take in some sun at South Beach.

Head to Queens, New York City’s largest borough. Head to Sunnyside for some hip and trendy bars and restaurants or spend the day in the sun at Rockaway Beach. Queens is also home to the city’s second largest park, Flushing Meadows-Corona Park. Add the neighborhoods of Astoria and Ridgewood to your itinerary to see how much variety Queens has to offer.

Finally, plan to stop in the Bronx where the kids will love the Bronx Zoo and the sports fan can take in Yankee Stadium. Add the New York Botanical Garden, some cool places to shop, and plenty of delicious restaurant options and enjoy a whole day here.

New York Airports

If you’re looking for flights to New York City, it’s important to know that the city has three airports that you can fly into. Regardless of which you choose, expect to spend some time getting from the airport to your destination.

John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) is located in Southern Queens and is an excellent choice if you’re staying in any of the outer boroughs. You can certainly fly into JFK if you’re staying in Manhattan, but getting there might take a little while.

Technically, Newark Airport is in New Jersey but it’s the best choice if you’re trying to get to the west side of Manhattan. You’ll get a great view of the Statue of Liberty and, depending on the time of day, could have a shorter journey into the city by cab or car.

The third option is LaGuardia Airport, located in Northern Queens. LaGuardia is a good choice if you’re staying in the outer boroughs or the East Side of Manhattan. Allow extra time here as LaGuardia is known for having a lot of flight delays.

No matter where you’re arriving from or which airport you’re flying to, BYOJet can help you get cheap flights to New York City and we do it for a much lower price. When you choose BYOJet, you’ll get to choose from dozens of airlines and lower rates plus discounts of hotels, cars, and anything you’ll need for your trip.

Getting to and leaving the airport

If you’re traveling through JFK, you have a few options. Go Airlink is a ride-share service between JFK and the city. The NYC Airporter is express bus service from JFK to Grand Central Station, Penn Station, and the Port Authority Bus Terminal. The AirTrain is an elevated rail system that travels between JFK, the Long Island Railroad, and the Queens subway system. There are also public bus options and taxi service.

To get to and from Newark Airport, there’s a Go Airlink rideshare shuttle. You can also take the AirTrain to the New Jersey Transit rail system and then onto New York City. There’s an Amtrak Station located at Newark Airport, too, as well as express bus service. Taxis are available by visiting the Port Authority Welcome Center.

The Go Airlink ride-share shuttle is also available at LaGuardia. The NYC Airporter provides express service to and from LaGuardia and Grand Central Station, Penn Station, and the bus terminal. There are also public buses and subways available that can get you to Upper Manhattan, Midtown, and various areas of Queens. You’ll also find taxi stands located throughout the airport.

New York Airport Facilities & Services

JFK is comprised of six terminals with 24-hour dining locations in Terminals 1 and 4. At JFK, you have the option to buy passes to the airport lounges if you are facing a flight delay. While there are no hotels located at the airport, most of the surrounding ones offer free shuttle service. All terminals offer mobile charging stations.

Newark Airport has three terminals. Mobile charging stations are located throughout the airport. You can purchase a pass to the airport lounges if you’re an economy traveler. There are no hotels located at the airport, but there are several nearby that provide free shuttle service to and from the airport. It’s recommended you eat before going through security and 24-hour dining is available in terminals B and C.

LaGuardia is a large airport with four terminals (A-D). Terminal B also has four concourses. The airport allows you to buy first class lounge passes even if you’re traveling economy class. There are also a lot of hotels around that provide 24-hour shuttle service, but none located at the airport. While there’s plenty of food available during regular business hours, there are no 24-hour options available.
