Flying to Dubai (DBX)
Flights to Dubai will arrive at the Dubai International Airport, the main one for the city. The official airline is Emirates and serves over 100 destinations. There’s also an economy carrier called FlyDubai. Both are based at the Dubai International Airport.
Another option is the Dubai World Central Airport, the newest airport for the city which opened its doors in 2013 to passenger flights. There are 19 different airlines that fly here to and from 44 different international destinations.

Getting to and leaving the airport
Taxis are the most popular way to get to and from the Dubai International Airport. There are many available just outside all terminals. Terminals 1 and 3 also have bus service by the Dubai Metro which take you to the Al Sabkha and Al Ghubaiba. Taxis are cream colored and if you see one with pink trim it means that there is a woman driver.
The Dubai Metro is relatively easy to understand because it has only two lines. It serves Terminals 1 and 3 and a train arrives roughly every 10 minutes during regular operating hours. There is no service Friday mornings.
If you want to take a bus, you can get one at Terminals 1 and 3 that will take you to the city. You’ll need to buy a Nol card before you board, as you cannot pay in cash.
Dubair World Central is still in the process of being completed so it doesn’t have quite as many options. You will always be able to find a taxi. Bus service is limited, though, and you will need a bus to get to the nearest metro station.
Dubai Airport Facilities & Services
Dubai International Airport (DXB) is the Middle East’s largest hub. There are three terminals. The first is the main terminal and where all international flights will come in for all airlines other than Emirates. The second is for regional and FlyDubai flights, and the third is exclusively for Emirates flights. Terminals 1 and 3 are connected, up to date, and modern, while Terminal 2 is not as efficient.
You’ll also find a lot of ways to unwind at DXB, including a spa, gym, a zen garden, and a 5-star hotel.
As far as dining, you’ll find just about everything. Popular chains like Baskin Robins and Subway to specialty restaurants like Shawarmanji and Taqado.
At Dubai World Central, dining is currently limited to Costa, McDonald’s, and Starbucks but many more options will be available as expansion is completed.
Both airports offer a lot of options as far as shopping goes, everything from general stores to fashion, jewelry, and electronics.
