Often hailed as one of the finest cities in Europe, London boasts an eclectic mix of visitor attractions, world-class shopping, magnificent buildings, and unbeatable cuisine. With something for the entire family, London’s a destination on many people’s bucket list.

Enjoy a Metropolitan City with Flights to London

The history and culture on offer in London is never ending. Whether you’re enjoying afternoon tea at the Ritz or you’re visiting the queen at Buckingham Palace, you’ll find yourself surrounded by quintessential British traditions.

For those who want to uncover all the history of this city, there’s the Natural History Museum and the Tower of London. But for those looking for the diverse cultures London offers, you’ll want to head to Portobello Road and Camden Market, where regular markets and quirky shops line the streets.

Finally, no trip to London would be complete without a trip to the West End, where you can enjoy theatrical delights that are famous all over the world. But don’t forget to stop off for a bite to eat first, enjoying the culinary masterpieces on offer at the city’s award-winning restaurants.

Finding Cheap Flights to London

London is a popular tourist destination at all times of the year, which means you’ll always find the flight prices vary no matter when you book them. Peak seasons tend to include the warmer summer months from June to September, but you’ll also find a lot of people heading to London for Easter, Christmas, and New Year’s Eve. Don’t forget to watch out for the U.K. school holidays, too, as a lot of locals will head to the capital city during these breaks.

If you can avoid these peak times, you might want to try booking London flights between April and May or September and October as this is when London tends to be at its quietest (although this city never sleeps)!

Not only will you avoid some of the hustle and bustle by travelling at these times, but you’ll also be able to enjoy all the attractions, too, as you’ll be travelling in spring or autumn when the weather’s still quite mild. Be warned, if you do travel during the winter months, you’ll probably need to wrap up warm as the temperatures can dip just below freezing.

Whenever you’re planning to book a flight to London, booking in advance is always your best option. To save money, try to plan your trip at least a few months before, and if you can have some flexibility in your travel dates, this should make it a lot easier. It’s also highly recommended to set up price alerts so you can see when the sales or discount flights become available.

Getting to and leaving the Airport

All five of London’s airports – Stanstead, Heathrow, Gatwick, London City, or Luton – offer great transport links.

Unless you’re flying into Luton (where you’ll need to catch a bus to the London Underground), trains are the most popular choice for getting from London’s airports to the city centre. Heathrow, Gatwick, and Stanstead all have their own stations with links to various other stations and connections, while London City Airport is in the heart of the city, so offers incredibly quick transfers to other destinations.

London Underground is extensive and has stops all over the capital, so this is your best choice, especially when you consider the hefty taxi fares and congestion charges associated with London’s roads. Taxis can also take longer than public transport links, so should be a last resort.

London Airport Facilities & Services at Heathrow

Heathrow, London’s biggest airport, has plenty of facilities to entertain you while you wait for a flight. Every terminal has access to a range of Duty Free stores, including convenience shops, designed outlets, and much more. Whether you’re looking for a book to read, or a luxurious treat, you’ll have no shortage of options. Across five terminals, customers can enjoy a plethora of bars, restaurants, and cafes – ideal whether you’re looking for a quick snack, or a relaxing meal with a few drinks. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the five terminals, making it easy to keep in touch with friends. For those who want faster speeds, there are pay-as-you-go options as well. Exclusive club members can also enjoy access to a variety of luxury lounges.
